Bringing Your Sensor to Life

After you have successfully applied your new LinX sensor to your skin, the next step is to establish a digital connection between the sensor and the LinX app on your smartphone. This process involves "pairing" the two devices and then waiting through a brief warm-up period. This guide will walk you through these final steps to get you up and running and seeing your first glucose readings.

Step 1: Pairing Your Sensor with the LinX App

Pairing is the process of creating a unique and secure wireless connection between your specific sensor and your app.

  • Enable Bluetooth: Before you begin, make sure the Bluetooth function on your smartphone is turned on. The sensor and app communicate via Bluetooth, so this is a mandatory step.
  • Initiate Pairing: Open the LinX app. On the Home Dashboard, you should see a button or prompt that says "Pair". Tap it to begin the process.
  • Select Your Device: The app will search for nearby LinX sensors. A list of available devices will appear. Select your sensor from this list.
  • Confirm Your Sensor: To ensure you are connecting to the correct sensor, the app will ask you to confirm its identity. You can do this in one of two ways:
    • Manually Enter the Serial Number (SN): Find the SN printed on the sensor's box label and type it into the app.
    • Scan the QR Code: Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code found on the box label.

If pairing fails for any reason, the app will notify you and give you the option to retry.

Bluetooth Connection: The Lifeline of Your CGM

For the LinX CGM system to function correctly, a stable Bluetooth connection is essential. It is important to think of this connection as an invisible leash between your sensor and your phone. For pairing and for continuous, real-time data transmission, your phone must be within 2 meters (about 6.5 feet) of your sensor, without major obstacles like walls in between. This 2-meter range is not just a setup requirement; it is a fundamental rule for using the system. To receive real-time data and, most critically, to receive potentially life-saving safety alerts for high or low glucose, your phone needs to stay within this range. It is highly recommended to get into the habit of keeping your phone in the same room with you, especially while you sleep.

Step 2: The Sensor Warm-Up Period

Once your sensor is successfully paired with the app, it will enter a one-hour warm-up period. The app will display a countdown timer on the screen to let you know how much time is remaining. This warm-up period is a necessary and automatic process. During this hour, the sensor is acclimating to your body's unique physiological environment and stabilizing itself within the interstitial fluid. This ensures that once it begins transmitting data, the glucose readings will be as accurate as possible. You will not receive any glucose readings or be able to set alerts during this one-hour warm-up.

Ready to Go: Seeing Your First Glucose Reading

As soon as the one-hour warm-up is complete, the countdown timer on the Home Dashboard will disappear and be replaced by your real-time glucose value. From this point on, your glucose reading will update every minute, and the system will be fully operational. You can now begin monitoring your levels, logging events, and setting up your personalized glucose alerts.

Next Step: While the LinX CGM is designed to be highly accurate, there may be times when you want to calibrate it. The next guide explains the process of calibration in detail.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I pair my new LinX sensor with the app?

To pair your sensor, first ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone. Open the LinX app and tap the 'Pair' button on the Home Dashboard. The app will search for your sensor. Select it from the list and confirm its identity by either manually entering the Serial Number (SN) from the box or scanning the QR code on the box label.

What is the sensor warm-up period and how long does it last?

The sensor warm-up period is a one-hour process that begins immediately after successful pairing. During this time, the sensor acclimates to your body's environment to ensure accuracy. You will not receive any glucose readings or be able to set alerts during this hour. The app will display a countdown timer.

Why is the Bluetooth connection important for my CGM?

A stable Bluetooth connection is essential for the LinX CGM system to function. It allows for the continuous, real-time transmission of glucose data from your sensor to your phone. To receive data and critical safety alerts, your phone must remain within 2 meters (about 6.5 feet) of the sensor.

When will I see my first glucose reading?

You will see your first real-time glucose value on the Home Dashboard of the LinX app as soon as the one-hour warm-up period is complete. From that point on, your reading will update every minute.
