Sensor Lifecycle: How to Remove, Replace, and Unpair Your Device

Each LinX CGM sensor is designed for a specific period of use, after which it needs to be replaced to ensure you continue to receive accurate glucose data. Managing this transition is a straightforward process. This guide will walk you through stopping your current sensor session, safely removing the old device, and preparing for a new one.

Understanding the Sensor's Lifespan

Your LinX CGM sensor provides continuous data for a set number of days (typically 10 to 14 days, please refer to your specific product's Instruction for Use). The LinX CGM App will provide you with notifications as your sensor session nears its end, so you'll have ample time to prepare for a replacement.

Step 1: Ending Your Current Sensor Session

Before removing the sensor from your body, you must first end the session in the LinX CGM App.

  • Open the LinX CGM App on your mobile device.
  • Navigate to the main menu or settings.
  • Select the option to "End Sensor Session" or "Stop Sensor."
  • Confirm your choice when prompted. The app will now stop trying to receive data from that sensor.

Step 2: Safely Removing the Used Sensor

Once the session is ended in the app, you can remove the sensor from your skin.

  • Gently grasp the edge of the adhesive pad that secures the sensor to your skin.
  • Slowly and carefully pull the adhesive away from your body until the entire unit is detached. If you experience difficulty, using medical adhesive remover or baby oil around the edges can help loosen the pad.
  • Dispose of the used sensor according to your local regulations for electronic waste or biohazardous materials. Do not dispose of it in general household trash unless local guidelines permit.

Step 3: Replacing the Sensor and Starting a New Session

With the old sensor removed, you are ready to apply a new one.

  • Choose a new site. It is important to rotate your sensor application sites to allow the skin to heal. Do not apply the new sensor to the exact same spot as the previous one.
  • Apply the new sensor by following the step-by-step instructions provided in your LinX CGM System's Instruction for Use.
  • Pair the new sensor with the LinX CGM App. The app will guide you through the process of scanning the new sensor and starting a new session. A warm-up period will begin, after which you will start receiving new glucose readings.

Unpairing the Device from Your Phone (If Necessary)

You typically do not need to unpair the sensor from your phone's Bluetooth settings during a routine replacement. However, you may need to do this if you are troubleshooting connection issues or changing your mobile device.

  • Open your phoneโ€™s Settings.
  • Go to the Bluetooth menu.
  • Find the LinX sensor/transmitter in your list of paired devices.
  • Select it and choose the option to "Forget This Device" or "Unpair."

This completes the lifecycle process. Now you can confidently manage your sensor replacements. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I know when my LinX CGM sensor needs to be replaced?

The LinX CGM App will automatically track the sensor's lifespan and will send you notifications to your mobile device when the sensor session is nearing its end.

What should I do before removing the old sensor?

It is critical to first end the sensor session within the LinX CGM App. This stops the app from trying to read data from the old sensor and prepares it for a new one.

How do I dispose of a used LinX CGM sensor?

You should dispose of the used sensor according to your local guidelines for electronic components or potentially biohazardous materials. Consult your local waste management authority for proper procedures.

Do I need to unpair the sensor from my phone's Bluetooth every time I change it?

No, for a routine sensor replacement, you do not need to interact with your phone's Bluetooth settings. You only need to end the session in the app. Unpairing is typically only done for troubleshooting or when changing phones.
